Your Guide

One of the many things we’ve learned from helping literally hundreds of families plan their vacations is there is no universal one-size-fits-all top-ten list of things to do. However, there are a few common threads.

I try to call all of our guests the Sunday morning (not too early) following their arrival.  The three most frequent comments I received from our guests are:

  • “The view is unbelievable”
  • “I can’t believe how close we are to the water”
  • “Your pictures don’t do it justice”
Everyone Loves the Views

The views from our lanai and the 4 x 6 foot sliding window our master suite are absolutely amazing. When you sit on the lanai in the morning sipping your coffee and enjoying the gentle breeze coming off the Gulf of Mexico you’ll often see dolphins jumping and occasionally spot a manatee cruising lazily by. In the evening the lanai provides you with a front row seat to enjoy magnificent sunsets.

Everyone Loves Being Right on the Beach

There are many advantages the closest beachfront condo to the Gulf of Mexico on Siesta Key. The beach starts at our back door and the Gulf of Mexico sits only about 200 feet away. Some guests prefer to unwind with a good book, and appreciate the fact we provide beach chairs, umbrellas and a cooler. If you have children you’ll enjoy watching them build sand castles with the beach toys you will also find in the front closet.

If you like long walks on the beach and collecting seashells, you will love our location.  To the south you will enjoy the best shelling on Siesta Key and you can walk often in near solitude for miles. To the north the beach extends for about a mile and a half until you reach the famed Point of Rocks.  Along the way you’ll pass by Turtle Beach, a mostly locals beach that is seldom crowded, several condos that are set a long ways back from the water, and beyond that, high-end private residences.

If you’re into fishing, you’ve got the choice of the Gulf that is only about 200 feet from our back door or the bay inlet that is only about 100 feet from the front door.  I can tell you where to pick up a reasonably nice combo rod and reel for less than $20 that will last you through your vacation (not salt water rated).

Looking for Some Excitement?

If you would you like to rent kayaks, paddleboards, a boat, a jet ski, go parasailing, charter a sailboat for a sunset cruise or hire a fishing guide; we’ve got you covered. How about a round of golf or a tennis match – we can help you with that too.

If you would like to rent a bicycle during your stay,  you’ll enjoy the wide bike lanes and the fact there are a couple dozen restaurants and several places to shop within two miles of the condo and before you reach a busy street.

You’ll find information on these and many other activities in the comprehensive get acquainted guide we send all of our guests.

Scenic Drives and Day Trips

Many of our guests like to take a break from the beach and explore the surrounding area. There are a number of great things to see and do that are within an easy hour’s drive from the condo.  There are also several scenic drives that you might enjoy during a lazy afternoon.  Our get acquainted guide will give you some ideas, and if you would like, we would be happy to help you design some day outings.

Family Activities

Many families enjoy visiting one of the Drum Circle sunset celebrations that are held on the Casey Key public beach Wednesday and Saturday evenings and the northern Siesta Key public beach Sunday evening.

Kids often love shelling and hunting for fossilized shark teeth.  We know of beach that is off the beaten tourist path that is loaded with shark teeth that are five to fifteen million years old.  We also know about some neat stuff to do along the way.

In our get acquainted guide we also provide links to a variety of museums and discuss special venues like the Mote Aquarium, Venice Audubon Society Rookery and Myakka River State Park where you can take an airboat tour (fairly low speed / multi passenger airboat).

Culture and Fine Dining

The Siesta Key area is surprisingly cosmopolitan, and with that, offers an amazing number of fine dining options and cultural venues. In our get acquainted guide we provide our guests with a list of approximately 30 great restaurants that include direct links to the restaurant websites and our commentary on the menus. We also provide a links to several museums and entertainment venues that you might find interesting.
